Soophia Foroughi is a British-Iranian actress and session singer based in the UK.
Her performing career has spanned almost 20 years, working in the West End and worldwide.
When the Performing Arts industry came to a sudden standstill during the COVID-19 pandemic, Soophia — like many performers — found herself unable to take to the stage for almost 18 months. In that unexpected pause, she turned to another form of artistry.
Ava & Azar was born.
Rooted in her Iranian heritage and a lifelong love of statement earrings, Ava & Azar became a creative way for Soophia to stay connected — not only to her own artistry, but to the colours, textures, and spirit of Iran. Inspired by Persian architecture and the sweeping landscapes of her ancestral home, each piece is designed as a modern heirloom — bold, sculptural, and full of story.
As a child, Soophia visited Iran often to see family, but she hasn’t been able to return in over 20 years. Ava & Azar became a deeply personal bridge to the beauty of that world — a way to honour her roots while creating something new and expressive.
The name itself is filled with meaning. ‘Ava’ means “voice” or “sound”; ‘Azar’ means “fire” — and also marks the ninth month of the Persian calendar. As a singer born in the ninth month of the Western year, Soophia felt a deep connection to both names: Ava for the beauty of voice, Azar for the bold spark of creation.
Each piece of Ava & Azar statement jewellery is handcrafted with love — a celebration of heritage, fire, and fearless adornment.
